Kill The Oxen!

This was when Elijah came upon Elisha to begin the process of passing the mantle. Elijah threw His coat on him and Elisha knew what was up IMMEDIATELY. He said let me tell my parents I won’t be back and I’ll be right there. Elijah said “do what you need” Elisha told the parents and then killed the oxen he was tending and broke their yoke to use as firewood to cook the oxen. He then fed the people with the oxen. After he killed his old life his new one began.

Why did he do all that? He did that so that there was no door left open to return to his past life! Close the doors! Break the bridge and burn it if you must but don’t you DARE return to a dead dry season of complacency and comfort when God has called you higher. He killed the oxen and then cooked them. Every trace of his past life was gone. There was not even any EVIDENCE he once even worked in the fields.
