1 Samuel 3 is a good reminder of how God appoints. Eli was a chosen prophet of the Lord.. but his sons were not. This is why I tell folk OFTEN that God doesn’t have grandchildren. You have to know Him for yourself. Eli didn’t restrain his sons, so his legacy couldn’t be continued. There would be no sacrifice to blot out their sins. The son’s lives were required.

In comes Samuel. A young prophet trained and raised by Eli. God spoke to him instead of Eli regarding what he would do to his legacy. Samuel told Eli and didn’t sugarcoat it. After that he was known as an established prophet in Israel. Did you catch any of that?

Sure Samuel respected and loved Eli, but he could not allow that respect and love to be higher than loyalty for the Lord. Too often we love and respect those who helped us MORE than we do Jesus. We will defend them, but not Him.

If you wanna be established in Him you MUST know where your loyalty lie.
